I'm not sure whether it was the change of environment or lifestyle after moving to New Zealand, but I was compelled to try new things.
It wasn't long before stone carving took over everything else. This medium fascinated me. I found the process absorbing and exhilarating. |

I'm inspired by the fantastic surroundings on our doorstep and when starting a new piece of sculpture I'm totally carried away with the excitement of it.
I carve directly and intuitively, being guided by the stone. I usually sketch initial ideas then transfer the shapes into the stone following the natural form and features. Curves form a huge part of my sculptures and paintings. I love the organic shapes that can be achieved when working with limestone. "Sculpture is to me part of who I am and I feel so very lucky to have discovered this art form" I hope you enjoy looking at my work as much as I've enjoyed producing it.
