Welcome to my world of Art
Ruth is an award winning artist who emigrated from the UK 6 years ago. Since living in New Zealand she has discovered a passion for producing work that is gaining recognition, both with her stone sculptures and paintings. Ruth’s work is an emotional response to her new environment, coming from her subconscious. She has been described as a fluidly, energetic artist who creates deceptive, intriguing work that commands attention.

When Ruth carves, she aims to encourage the viewer to move round her work, the form continually changing, light weaving through the piece. Ruth carves by hand, directly and intuitively, being guided by the natural flow of each piece of stone. Ruth’s painting is achieved in a similar way, letting the paint flow dictate the forms that eventually emerge.
Her work is influenced by patterns, shapes and forms found in the natural environment, exploring dreams and new ideas, creating warmth and energy within her work that will speak to the viewer.
Ruth exhibits regularly and her work is in private collections in New Zealand and abroad, people returning to her for additional pieces to add to their collections.
You are welcome to view Ruth's work at the home studio in a beautiful setting, on the lower slopes of the Port Hills in Christchurch....about 10 minutes drive from the city centre, or alternatively her work can be seen at local galleries, including ‘Arts in Oxford’, 'Bryce Gallery', Riccarton, ‘Art Nomad’, Sumner, and ‘Pukeko Gallery’, Leithfield.
